March Morning at the Sturgeon Bay Lighthouse
The left-over snow and ice lend a charming touch to the stark, dark structure and the concrete base of this lighthouse pier.
It was at the end of the first week in March and the temperature was rising every day. Soon the ice ad snow would be gone.
Sturgeon Bay Light House in Late Winter
Photographers from all over Wisconsin make trips to this area to take pictures of the enormous amounts of ice and snow that cover the red lighthouse in most winters. To the locals that is a quite typical winter scene.

Favorite Tourist Spot
Sommer, winter, spring or fall - - At Cave Point you can see it all.
Ice Build-Up at Cave Point
Many winter tourists like me come see the forces of nature at work. When the agitated lake crashes its icy waves on the shore, the cold water almost instantly freezes on rocks and vegetation to form icicles or ice sculptures.
"Life is Good"!
Who would not want to cruise in a "little" boat like this one for a couple of hours now and then when vacationing in Door County?
Late Winter Weather at White Fish Dunes Park
The wind is blowing, pushing furious waves crashing onto the shore. The temperature is just barely above zero degrees. We have not seen a living soul. No animals, no birds, no insects. The place is desolate. It resembles an ice desert.
But not for long, Spring is just around the corner.
Shore Ice in Late Winter
When elsewhere in the state everything is thawing and defrosting, winter in Door County seems to be lingering on. The waves of Lake Michigan pounding the shore have created huge icicles during the past winter months which are continually being fed by the icy water.
Cave Point South
Cave Point in Door County is my favorite place to visit.
I love it's rocky shore and the lush vegetation. A photographer's paradise! And while there are a fair number of people visiting the area on a nice summer's day, one still can find peace and serenity.

Beach at Dusk
The summer season is coming to an end. The beaches are empty. The light is fading earlier and earlier into the night. Serenity rules. For those who don't like crowds, it is the perfect time to take a stroll.
There is a solitary Guy in his Boat . . .
Leisurely cruising near Sturgeon Bay harbor. He looks relaxed. Perhaps he is contemplating life or some issues he will have to deal with shortly. Nothing disturbs him now. He has the freedom to let his thoughts roam. Where better to sort out your feelings than on the quiet open water where serenity reigns..
The wind is cool today, but the man is dressed for that. Besides, the lunch time sun is warm and takes the edge off the wind's harshness. It's a beautiful day to be out on the lake.
I'm sure the man will remember these moments on the lake.
